Remembers what you worked on
Files you open or save in the folders you choose (Desktop, Documents and Downloads by default) are noted with their name, folder, time and app.
For macOS 15+ · Fully local
Find the file you just had open. Recall quietly remembers which files you opened and changed on your Mac. Press ⌥ Space, type a few letters or “invoice yesterday”, and it’s right there.
Free to use. One-time Pro upgrade. Requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later.
Animated illustration: files you open and change on your Mac, like Invoice-Oct.pdf or Budget-2026.xlsx, flow into Recall, which remembers each one with the app you used and when.
Time words
You rarely remember a file name. You remember roughly when. Combine a few letters with a time word, and Recall narrows it down.
Privacy controls
Recall only remembers what you let it. Take a break, keep folders out, or forget things whenever you like.
Recall does one thing: it helps you find the files you worked on, quickly and privately.
Files you open or save in the folders you choose (Desktop, Documents and Downloads by default) are noted with their name, folder, time and app.
A small panel appears over any app. Use the arrow keys and Return to open a file, or reveal it in Finder.
Combine names with time words: “invoice yesterday”, “slides last week”, “Rechnung gestern”.
Look for kinds of files: “image” or “spreadsheet” work as well as names do.
Your history lives on your Mac. Remembering and searching never need an internet connection.
The app and its time words speak both languages, so “yesterday” and “gestern” both just work.
Pause remembering, exclude folders, remove single entries or delete the last hour, today or everything.
Recall stays in the menu bar: open it, start Quick Search, or pause remembering for an hour, until tomorrow or until you resume.
Private by design
Recall stores file names, paths, times and an app guess. It never reads what is inside your files.
Your history stays on your Mac. There is no account, no analytics and no crash reporting.
Recall only goes online to check for updates (if you allow it) and to activate or deactivate a Pro license.
Recall is free to use, with no time limit. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
